It’s with a heavy heart that we share that the crime that has been occurring more frequently in our neighborhood has now struck us as well. On Saturday evening we were robbed of our speaker system, an iPod nano that was attached to the speaker system, an electric drill, a bike that was being stored there as well as Giesla’s small purse that was accidentally left behind that day. The good news is nothing was vandalized and the art is all okay.
As we weren’t able to afford insurance, nothing will be able to be replaced. Even if we had insurance, the combined value of the items stolen would have been less than the deductible anyway.
Part of the atmosphere of our store is having quiet music playing. Walking into a completely quiet store, especially one you’ve never been in before, we feel is uncomfortable and slightly unwelcoming. We also feel having some fun music helps people to relax and really enjoy their portrait session. Without our speaker system, we’re unable to provide that warm and friendly experience.
We’re looking to replace our speaker system with something that would be portable since right now we just don’t feel safe leaving anything of value to thieves in the space. Unfortunately times have been trying and it’s not in our budget to purchase even a small system right now.
It’s not in our nature to ask for help, but we’re both very dedicated to not let this horrible event keep us from continuing on. If you would like to contribute to helping us replace our speaker system, it would be unbelievably appreciated. If you’d rather contribute by making a purchase, you can go to inkblotsart.com to view Giesla’s art or scapephotography.com to book a portrait session with Karl.
